online projects
indiworks channel
the indiworks - indi media works channel features a selection of my film/video works, including the indi movie vincent (44 min.), the editing experiment his girl friday - between the lines edit (2005) and kevin’s world - a 3d vlog. subscription/download is free, all you have to do is 1) copy this link (my video rss feed) and 2) add/subscribe to the feed in e.g. miro. all videos are encoded with mpeg-4/h.264, some of them with up to 1500 kbits/sec.
if you need help with creating your own internet tv channel read this tutorial i wrote for the berlin final cut pro user group blog.
the audiovisual section of the p2p wiki
the p2p wiki is a project of the p2p foundation (”researching, documenting and promoting peer to peer practices”. more about the foundation here.)
while i recently started to make some smaller contributions to the p2p blog (october ‘06), i mostly maintain/contribute to the audiovisual section of the p2p wiki.
the p2p wiki studies “the impact of peer to peer technology and thought on society”. in the a/v section we try to “focus on the how-to and technical aspects of producing, finding and distributing audiovisual content using the new p2p autonomous media infrastructure” - so the basic idea is to help everyone get started with online audio and video publishing.
remixlinks: open media culture
remixlinks.ning.com is a bookmark project i started in february ‘06. this is actually “my own” social app on ning. if you want to share open media culture related links you can sing up with ning and use this app. please no direct media links (like torrents etc.), links to sites featuring mash-ups (or a mash-up’s own page on e.g. archive.org or youtube) are o.k.
this is the bookmark list of realdigirev (me) at remixlinks.ning.com (at this point more or less the same as when you look at all user’s submitted bookmarks).
one thing that makes social bookmark lists so powerful is that you can tag entries and build a useful database over time: e.g. have a look at all my entries for remix, opensource or movies.
indiworks @ ourmedia
from september ‘05 until september ‘06 i had my indiworks blog at ourmedia and also published most of my work via ourmedia (there you can find some of my older and/or more experimental works).
around january ‘06 i joined the ourmedia moderating team and in september ‘06 i decided to take a break from my ourmedia activities. i still think that ourmedia has a lot of potential, unfortunately the developing side of things had been pretty much neglected for almost a year - an eternity in online media time - and the result is a site that basically needs to be rebuilt from scratch if all the users who once signed up are supposed to come back. i hope this will happen. *update spring/summer ‘07*: it is happening..!
stationvideo.blogspot.com
from station to station (released online in october ‘05) is a film noir music video - my 4 minutes remix of the b-movie classic d.o.a. (1949). the music is by manoeuvres in beige, commercial releases à la beige can be found via the bureau beige site. stationvideo.blogspot.com, written and maintained by my good friend stationmaster, was (and still is) the attempt to promote our remix music video and related works.
realdigirev.blogspot.com
the r e a l digital revolution is a blog my best virtual friend digital_kevin started in march ‘05 - first as a kind of commentary to a del.icio.us bookmark list he used to have, soon the blog evolved to a more general commentary about the democratisation of the media and the web.
kevin now also has a leading role in my 3d vlog (kevin’s world - a 3d vlog, episode 1: kevin & ginger, 2 min.).
